Mountain celebrates two dedicated counselors who support students’ mental health, transitions, and wellbeing—click to learn more!

Susan and Sally are our incredible school counselors, and we are so grateful for the care they give our students and their mental health. Even though they are each on campus for only about a day and a half each week, their dedication and the impact they make in that short time is remarkable.

Sally has been with us for a couple of years and brings valuable experience as a high school counselor to support our 7th and 8th-grade students. She helps them prepare for the transition to high school—teaching them how to choose classes, open combination locks for their lockers, and navigate the realities of a larger campus (like realizing you may not have time to walk across campus to visit friends between classes!). Along with these practical skills, Sally also supports students with their emotions and mental health. She even teaches sign language to our TK–3rd grade students.

Susan brings more than 30 years of counseling experience and has joined us at Mountain for the first time this year. She spends her time checking in with students and working closely with parents, teachers, and administration. Students appreciate her calm and caring way of talking with them and the thoughtful ways she helps them problem-solve. They know they can always come to her to talk things through. Susan also teaches weekly classroom lessons for TK–3rd grade using Yoga Calm techniques.

We are so thankful for Susan and Sally and the compassion, wisdom, and support they bring to our students at Mountain School. Thank you both for everything you do!💙
